Iberpapel Forest Plantation VCS CCB

Silvipastoral system on 4,691 ha of degraded land. The project includes forest plantations for CO2 sequestration and supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) 4,8, 12, 13, 15. The Plantation is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC is an internationally renowned program that sets the gold standard for responsible forest management. FSC certification provides a mechanism for companies, organisations and communities to demonstrate their commitment to the FSC principles and criteria for responsible forest management


Tree Planting

Whilst tree planting remains one of the best ways to reduce global carbon emissions, iOffset fund tree planting projects as a “Carbon Positive” action and as such tree planting does not form part of the offset calculation. Our tree planting partners include the Ribble Rivers Trust in the UK and  One Tree Planted  is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organisation on a mission to plant trees across North America, Latin America, Asia & Australia and Africa. 

How it Works

Carbon offsetting works by investing in accredited projects that essentially remove (afforestation) or prevent (renewable energy) more CO2 than your carbon footprint generates.

Sequestering and Removing CO2

Afforestation projects essentially store CO2 and prevent it from being released into the atmosphere through tree planting projects in areas that have not previously (at least for hundreds of years) had tree cover. Guanare Forest Plantations is a VCS accredited afforestation project in Uruguay. The project covers a total of 21,298 ha of land previously grazed by beef cattle on which forest plantations were established to produce high-quality, long-lived wood products and store large quantities of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The forests are mainly based on Eucalyptus grandis plantations in 22-year rotation, which are cultivated with cutting and two to three thinning operations to obtain high-diameter logs suitable for sawing and veneering.

Sequestering and Removing CO2

The project covers 94,000 hectares of intact tropical rainforests, an ecosystem with the highest biodiversity and one of the most significant carbon sinks. The project aims to preserve a part of the protected forest and to manage the other areas in a sustainable and long-term manner.
