Carbon Registries & Partners

The iOffset fund supports projects around the world to remove or prevent carbon being released into the atmosphere. Only projects that meet the highest global standards as set by Gold Standard, The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the United Nations Climate Neutral Now programme are supported.

Gold Standard

Gold Standard is an independent, internationally recognised benchmark for carbon offset projects that was created by The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and environmental  Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in 2003.

The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)

The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) is the world’s leading voluntary program for the certification of Greenhouse gas GHG emission reduction projects. With almost 1500 certified projects, the VCS program is the world’s most widely used voluntary greenhouse gas programme. Since inception in 2006, these projects have collectively reduced or removed more than 200 million tonnes of carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.

The United Nations

“Climate Neutral Now, an initiative of the UN Climate Change secretariat, is proud to support iOffset in their ambition to offset the greenhouse emissions.

“While we transform our economy to a carbon neutral one through a transition in our technologies and processes, offsetting represents one tool to accelerate such transition and support developing countries in the process.

“Where greenhouse gas emissions cannot be totally avoided at this point in time, compensation through credible offsets can help encourage further emission reductions and we are glad to see this concept extending in the UK.”

Miguel Naranjo, Programme Officer from The UN Climate Neutral Now
